With the Portuguese CP Class 1400, we welcome the third and last free production series for this month in the game.

The CP Class 1400 is a series consisting of a total of 67 diesel-electric engines that were built for Portuguese Railways (CP) between 1967 and 1969. The engines reach a top speed of 105 km/h.

The production of this class was mainly commissioned to replace steam engines that were still used by Portuguese Railways at the time. English Electric was tasked with developing the engine. Mechanically, the locomotives were based on the British Rail Class 20, although a more powerful engine was installed. In addition, the CP Class 1400 was designed for the greater Iberian track and loading gauge compared to its British counterpart.

At the start of the 21st century, some of the engines of the series were sold to Argentina for further duty. The CP Class 1400 is now available in Rail Nation as an alternative production series for the Neptune in the fourth era.
